Shenanigans in detail
Now that you've tried your hand at knitting, would you like to switch gears & learn to crochet???
Crochet can be quite intimidating because it is traditionally done with a fine hook and thread to make dainty, lacey things. But you had better sight of  the yarn and the hook? That would make learning to crochet wayyyyy easier.Â
We are going to use this opportunity to 'hankmake' a lovely present, keeping in mind the upcoming festive season. Your new project will make warm home decor or a very special present for a very lucky someone.
There will be finger food and Prosecco.
If you attended our first session, please buy a Cro-oker 2.0 ticket and arrive at 2.30pm
If you are attending for the first time please buy a Cro-oker Newbie ticket and arrive at 2pm
Cro-oker 2.0s will geet to refresh the skills learned in the previous yarn club. Complete the project you started. Bring your WIPs and ask questions. Challenge yourself to try some new stitches.
Crochet Newbies will learn:
- Basic chain - the launchpad for most projects
- Magic loop - the launch pad for the remaining projects
- 1 or 2 basic stitches (depending on your progress & the time we have left)
- Adding extra stitches
- Decreasing extra stitches
- Colour-blocking
- Crocheting in a round - to make more gifts or home decor
You will leave with:
- Yarn skills for a lifetime
- The best quality crochet hook (imho)
- Luxurious upcycleded plant-based yarn - enough for your first project (plus more can be purchased if you want)
- Stitch markers for your current and future projects
- .....and a little tipsy from the Prosecco
There will be hands-on demonstrations for the group and for each individual if you need a little extra care.
Please bring a small pair of scissors, notebook & pen. But we will make sure you get enough practice that the stitches become muscle memory for you.
All training, tools & materials for your first project, finger food and a glass of Prosecco is included in your Cro-oker Newbie ticket.
Training, finger food and a glass of Prosecco is included in your Cro-oker 2.0 ticket.
As with all our events, a portion of every ticket will be donated to an organisation fighting animal cruelty. This time, $10 from every ticket sold will be donated to The Coalition for the Protection of Greyhounds to support the end of greyhound racing. Learn about their work and feel free to support them additionally on their website.
Looking forward to a fun afternoon with you (we don't have age, gender, social demographic biases - everyone is welcome)!
